OAKLAND – Throughout these turbulent weeks in Oakland, Oakland Police Officers

have expressed both public and private disappointment at allegations made against

a small number of our members. Oakland Police Officers are hard working men and

women of integrity serving our City.

Oakland Police Officers are as angry as the

citizens they serve at the various accounts of wrongdoing by these officers.

As Oakland Police Officers’ Association President Barry Donelan explained “this isn’t

what the vast majority of those wearing the blue uniform think or how they conduct

their personal and professional lives.”

“I stand on firm ground when I tell you those of us police officers who serve the

citizens of Oakland respect our community and conduct ourselves ethically and with

the safety of the citizens of Oakland as our first priority.”

OPOA said it has confidence in the leadership of Sabrina Landreth, given her

experience as Oakland City Administrator, and looks forward to working closely with

her going forward.

Oakland residents can be assured that Oakland Police Officers will continue to serve

our citizens diligently and credibly throughout the investigations.

“Our officers are just as disappointed as everyone else in the blemish these events

have made on the reputations of Oakland Police Officers who come to work every

day and work hard to serve our community,” Donelan concluded.
