Sacramento: Law enforcement shares with Assemblywoman Shirley Weber and
the supporters of AB 931 a deep commitment to safe streets, communities where
families can walk without fear in their neighborhoods, and engendering trust
between law enforcement and those we are sworn to protect and serve. While
we did not support elements of AB 931, we will use the interim between
legislative sessions to work closely with leadership in both houses,
Assemblywoman Weber and stakeholders to discover common ground. We all
want positive solutions.

The Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) was incorporated in 1953 as a
professional federation of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Today, PORAC
represents over 70,000 public safety members and over 930 associations, making it the largest
law enforcement organization in California and the largest statewide association in the nation.
